The Basics & Tips for...
+ Types of dermatitis that may cause dry, itchy, flaking skin
+ Treatments for acne & care for aging & sun-exposed skin
Protecting your skin from the sun is important because the sun emits ultraviolet radiation (UVR). Over time, UVR exposure causes many changes in the skin, including wrinkles, discoloration, age spots, benign growths, and pre-cancerous and cancerous growths. In fact, most skin cancers are related to sun exposure.
UVR consists of two main subtypes: UVB and UVA. UVB rays are responsible for sunburns and tanning. UVA rays are believed to be responsible for photoaging (the damage that occurs to the skin from many years of exposure to the sun). Both types have been linked to cancer.
Most sunscreen products prevent sunburns by blocking UVB rays. Newer sunscreen products are also successful in blocking UVA rays. For that reason, sun protection recommendations emphasize certain behaviors, as well as the use of sunscreens. Our recommendation is to use Elta MD sunscreens and…
- Avoiding mid-day sun (between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m.).
- Wearing wide-brimmed hats, long-sleeved shirts, and pants.
- Using Elta MD sunscreen and reapplying it frequently (every 2 to 3 hours if active during the day).
- Using sunscreens that have an SPF greater than 30, and have UVA & UVB coverage.
Reverse that sun damage
Microneedling with Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP)
How is this different from regular Microneedling?
Microneedling is a cosmetic procedure that’s primarily used to minimize the signs of aging. During a standard session, your aesthetic provider uses a special roller or device with needles to prick the skin and stimulate new collagen production. Because of this, Microneedling is also known as collagen induction therapy. Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) injections can be added to the session for an additional cost. Microneedling with PRP is said to create more tightness in the skin and speed the healing process along.

We believe skincare battles are best won before they are fought. Because investing in scientific innovation now, means we won’t have to pay the price for free radicals later.
When it comes to sunscreen, we believe it should be a purely physical relationship—not a chemical one. Because the best defense is a mineral suncare offense.
