Fine lines and wrinkles, acne and traumatic scars, sun or age spots, stretch marks, discoloration and some skin loosening are among the major conditions that benefit from this state-of-the-art treatment. And the procedure may be performed on most areas of the body including the face, neck, chest, arms, leg and hands.
IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) gently and effectively treats skin imperfections such as brown spots (from sun and age), freckles, birthmarks, rosacea and broken capillaries. It also stimulates collagen and elastin production.
Light pulses penetrate the skin into the tissues and create heat, targeting the imperfection in a controlled manner. The body naturally removes the treated tissues while collagen and elastin fiber stimulation occurs. This process results in a visible improvement in skin tone, texture and appearance.
Some people with shallow pigmentation see results after 1-2 treatments. Typically 2-6 sessions scheduled approximately 4 weeks apart will achieve optimal results.
Some people may experience some redness which usually disappears in a few hours. Daily activity may be resumed the same day.. We advise you to stay out of the sun for a few days following treatment and to apply sunscreen consistently for optimal results.
Tattoos are prevalent among people of all ages, and while they seem like a good idea at the time, that feeling often doesn’t last. A sizable percentage of those with tattoos are either embarrassed by them or otherwise no longer want them. We have a laser tattoo removal device known as the Q-Switched Yag/KTP laser. This laser uses dual wavelengths to remove a vast range of tattoo pigments.
Lighter ink colors are harder to remove, as they don’t absorb as much light and heat from the laser. The Laser’s 532-nanometer setting works on vibrantly colored tattoos, destroying the ink which is then removed by the body. Tattoos come in all colors, and some are more difficult to remove due to the amount of light the ink is able to absorb. The Q-Switched Yag/KTP Laser switches between the Yag laser, which operates at 1064 nanometers, and the KTP laser that operates at 532 nanometers. This switch allows you to target and break up inks of all colors.
It depends on the tattoo. Fine line tattoos with black ink respond the most readily to tattoo removal treatments, while the ink in colorful tattoos can take a number of treatments to be fully removed. Regardless, the Q-Switched Yag/KTP Laser can effectively target and destroy both types of ink and remove both black and colored tattoos.
Laser hair removal is a cosmetic procedure that uses pulsed laser energy to remove unwanted hair from a targeted area, while leaving surrounding skin unharmed. Common areas on which laser hair removal is performed are the chin, upper lip, chest, underarms, back, bikini line and legs.
Although there are many temporary treatments, including tweezing, shaving, using depilatory creams and waxing, to remove unwanted hair, patients seeking more permanent and less irritating/painful methods are frequently good candidates for laser hair removal. Through what is a safe and usually painless procedure, hair can be removed from nearly any area of the body (the eye area is an exception because of the possibility of serious eye damage).
Because the laser beams used to remove hair target its melanin (pigment), the best candidates have dark hair and light skin. Conversely, those with blond, red, gray or white hair and dark skin are usually not good candidates. Recent technological advances have made laser hair removal for those with dark skin more successful, while techniques for using lasers to effectively remove light-colored hair are being investigated.
Laser hair removal is performed while the target area is numbed by a topical anesthetic. A handheld device that emits intense laser pulses is moved across the area, focusing on individual hair follicles. There are several different methods of laser hair removal, some of which combine laser impulses with radiofrequency. The appropriate method for each patient is decided in consultation with the physician administering treatment.
Hair growth takes place cyclically, in three stages. The most effective laser hair removal takes place during the androgen (full-growth) stage, because the hair follicles in this stage are susceptible to laser energy. But, because all hair is not in the same stage of growth at any given time, several laser treatments, usually between three and five, spaced 4 to 8 weeks apart, are necessary. To some extent, the length of treatment depends on the texture of the patient's hair, and the location from which it is being removed.
A common misconception is that laser resurfacing is only safe for light skin types. While it is true that certain lasers pose a higher risk for cell damage or discoloration in darker skin, there are safe and effective resurfacing options. For lighter-toned African American, Hispanic or Asian skin tones, Erbium lasers can sometimes be a good option, posing less risk for discoloration.
Patients with darker brown or black skin may need to consider other skin resurfacing options, such as radio-frequency treatments or microneedling. Be sure to ask Wendy or A Fresh Face team member which is best for you.
